New Acquisition Increases Exactech’s Foot and Ankle Portfolio

Exactech is growing thanks to the acquisition of EPIC Extremity, a screw and plating company based out of Cranberry Township, Penn. We have been distributing the product as the EPIC Extremity foot and ankle reconstruction system for the past year and now have full ownership.

“We are thrilled to complete this acquisition to continue the relationship and our commitment to the foot and ankle market,” said Darin Johnson, senior vice president of extremity marketing. “We are excited to combine these products with the Vantage® Total Ankle System to provide an expanded line of solutions.”

Specifically, the EPIC Extremity foot and ankle reconstruction system addresses great toe arthritis, fractures, hallux valgus deformities and midfoot/flatfoot injuries in a customizable, modular tray specific to disease states. The modules also come with small staples, snap-off screws, and cannulated, titanium screws that come in multiple diameters and headed and headless options. There also is a separate fusion plating system for ankle arthrodesis.

“At the core of EPIC Extremity was a desire to provide surgeons with implant systems that offer quality patient care and service in an efficient and cost-effective manner,” said Dan Schwartzbauer, founder and president of EPIC Extremity. “With Exactech’s acquisition, we feel confident that we can accomplish this mission even further, and we look forward to seeing its growth and even more patients being served.”
