Overview:
As a company founded by an orthopaedic surgeon and a biomedical engineer, Exactech has a unique perspective on product development. Come learn about our science-driven products and how our wide range of orthopaedic implants, surgical instrumentation and biologics solutions are developed with the primary goal of improving patient outcomes.
This medical education program will be highlighted by two guest speakers: Dr. Albert Burstein will speak on "Biomechanics of Joint Arthroplasty" and Dr. Stephen Li will present “The Science Behind Big Heads, Thin Poly”.
Requirements:
- To be eligible to attend the Exactech Medical Education: Albert Burstein, PhD, Resident/Fellow Program, each orthopaedic resident (4th or 5th year) or fellow is asked to submit an abstract or technical paper of his/her experience and related outcomes using an orthopaedic product for a joint restoration procedure.
- Abstracts or technical papers will be reviewed by Dr. Albert Burstein, world-renowned bioengineer and lead design engineer for the Optetrak® Knee System. The acceptance or rejection of abstract or technical papers will be based on suitability, importance, validity, technical accuracy and presentation of material new in either concept or application. Suitable abstracts or technical papers should include original studies, review papers, case reports, technique, descriptions and/or diagnostic or treatment tips.
- Three abstracts or technical papers of general interest will be chosen and the authors will be asked to present to a panel of their peers during the Medical Education Program in Gainesville. Presentations should last no more than 10 minutes, with five minutes allotted for general questions.
