Our History
It began with a conversation around the kitchen table.
A conversation about a vision...
To improve the lives of individuals by maintaining their activity and independence. When orthopaedic surgeon Bill Petty, his wife Betty, and biomedical engineer Gary Miller, Ph.D., co-founded Exactech in 1985 they wanted to make a difference in the quality of care provided to patients suffering from joint diseases like arthritis. They believed they could do this by providing innovative joint replacement products and surgical instrumentation—designed by surgeons, for surgeons.
